We will cover the four main tabs where you might wish to make changes to your webmail settings:

The "General tab contains most of your inbox and display settings.

Display All Account Mailboxes
Display Subscribed Mailboxes
These settings should be left on default.

Default Mailboxes

Save Sent Messages

Save Draft Messages

Default Mailbox for Notes
Change these settings to change where your sent items, drafts and notes are saved.

Mailbox Viewer

Display

This setting will change the number of messages shown in your Inbox.

Refresh Every

This setting will change how often your Inbox will refresh and check for new incoming mail.

Field Order

This setting should be left on "NO".

Fields

This changes the default sort order in your inbox. You can sort messages by any of the options listed.

Reverse Sort order:

Change this setting from "YES" to "NO" to reverse the order of your selected sort field.

Message Viewer

It is recommended that you leave all settings in this area to "Default"

Trash Management

Message Delete Method

You have three options for the way email is deleted:

  1. Move to Trash: This moves the message to the trash can and puts a "Empty" link next to the trash can. The email will remain in that folder until you empty it, allowing for recovery of an email that may have been deleted accidentally. Once you "empty" the trash can folder, the emails in there are deleted and cannot be recovered.
  2. Mark: This method is not recommended. All deleted emails are still shown in the inbox until you purge them by clicking on the trash can in the Inbox toolbar.
  3. Immediately: This will permanently delete all emails without putting them in the trash can. If you use this option and delete a message, there is no way to recover it.

Trash Mailbox

Change where your deleted items are stored, if using the "Move to Trash" option above.

Keep Message Received Time

By default, when deleting an item, it removes the received time from the message. Change this setting to "YES" if you would like the emails moved to the trash can to retain their received date information.

On Logoff, Remove Items in Trash Older Than

By default, on logoff, messages in your trash can that are older than 92 days will be removed. If you would like to save your trash items for shorter or longer periods, you can change this setting.

Text Encoding

Miscellaneous

It is recommended that you leave all settings in these area at "Default".

Composer

Add a signature line or change the name that shows when you send an email. All other settings should be left at default.

Contacts Tab

If you had your contacts list imported from the previous Webmail system or you started a contact list through the Compose Sub-Menu (selecting "Compose" from the top toolbar, then selecting "New Contact") you will want to set the two dropdown menus under "Default Address Books and Mailboxes" to "Contacts" as shown below.
